Melanie Phillips on Rowan Williams: Dhimmi - or just dim?

Dhimmi - or just dim?I'd say possibly both.

It's a must-read article from the woman who wrote Londonistan. She concludes:
... Dr Williams says he has been misunderstood. Tellingly, his website statement makes no defence at all of this devastating renunciation of the doctrine of equality before the law. This omission suggests that at least someone at Lambeth Palace understands what Dr Williams actually said only too well.

The lecture and radio interview were bad enough, heaven knows. But this statement on his website raises yet further concerns. How can the Archbishop of Canterbury put out such a seriously misleading and, in parts, demonstrably false statement? It moves this affair on from questions about judgment — which are serious enough — to questions about integrity. Either Dr Williams really does not understand what he himself said — in which case he is a fool; or he understands exactly what he said and is trying to pretend that he didn’t say it — in which case he is a knave.

Either way, he has done great harm to his church and is a danger to his country (although through this furore he has also, unwittingly and ironically, set back the agenda of Islamisation by stealth which had been making such headway; hence the very carefully modulated support for him by such Islamist strategists as the Muslim Council of Britain). He should stand down and the courageous and sharp Bishop of Rochester, Dr Michael Nazir-Ali — a man whose life is now in danger for having spoken the truth about Islam in a Britain whose religious and cultural identity he actually defends, but about whom Dr Williams has said not one word in support — should take his place.

Now that really would be a statement in defence of Britain and western civilisation.
Read it all.

Update: Bryan from HotAir provides this clip of Dr. Williams' comments from the AP:

Susan Easton adds this in her column titled Archbishop of Canterbury Gone Bonkers:
... For those who might not be up to speed on Sharia law, it is not like The Ten Commandments or the Bill of Rights. It is not just Holy Law; it is wholly Holy secular law too. It is the all-inclusive law as imposed by a theocratic state. It governs everything from banking to marriage. And it carries some pretty heavy penalties, from cutting off the hands of thieves to stoning women caught in adultery, even if the adultery stems from a gang rape. It also looks the other way when fathers, brothers, or uncles kill family females who dare to date outside of Islam. These are known as “honor killings.”

The Archbishop of Canterbury supports his partially pro-Sharia law position by citing the inherent inequity which ensues when Catholic adoption agencies discriminate against gay couples. Of course, there are no gay people in Iran according to Ahmadinejad so that isn’t the best illustration the Archbishop might have chosen to make his point. In fact, instances of sharia law being carried out within British Muslim communities have been reported. A young man who knifed someone was judged by a Sharia court and let out on the streets when his family compensated his victim financially. ...

In the Episcopal Church, "holy living" apparently includes sodomy...

Virtue Online - Episcopal Church Drops $51,000 for Op-Ed Page ad in New York TimesEpiscopal Church Drops $51,000 for Op-Ed Page ad in New York Times: (PDF of the ad here)
The National Episcopal Church (TEC) paid a cool $51,897 for a one-time quarter page block advertisement in the Op-Ed page section (A15) of the New York Times on Saturday, extolling the virtues of becoming an Episcopalian.

Headlined: "The Episcopal Church, Marking a Milestone, Moving Forward" the ad began, "Somewhere near you, there's a blue-and-white sign bearing the familiar slogan: The Episcopal Church Welcomes You. It represents some 7,400 congregations that trace their beginnings in North America to a small but hopeful group of English Christians who arrived May 14, 1607 at a place they called Jamestown - the first permanent English settlement in the New World."

The ad was a result of collaboration between Mr. Bob Williams, Director of the Office of Communications for The Episcopal Church, and the Rev. Jan Nunley, Deputy for Communication for the Episcopal Church.

The ad went on to explain: "You may know us as Washington's monumental National Cathedral, site of historic services and ceremonies, or the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York, still unfinished, but already the largest cathedral in the world."

The real intent of the ad becomes clear near the end when it states:

"Episcopalians struggle with the same issues that trouble all people of faith: how to interpret an ancient faith for today ... how to maintain the integrity of tradition while reaching out to a hurting world ... how to disagree and yet love and respect one another.

"Occasionally those struggles make the news. People find they can no longer walk with us on their journey, and may be called to a different spiritual home. Some later make their way back, and find they are welcomed with open arms."

Clearly upset at frothing headlines exposing the splits in local parishes in dioceses around the country, The Episcopal Church hopes, with this ad, to regain lost momentum and prestige by playing up its strengths.

The ad further notes: "But the Episcopal Church is also Boston's Old North Church, founded in 1723 and made famous by serving as the beacon for Paul Revere's revolution-spurring 'midnight ride.' And Philadelphia's Christ Church, home parish of 15 signers of the Declaration of Independence, host to the first General Convention of the Episcopal Church in 1785.

"It's Trinity Parish on Wall Street in New York, formed in 1698, and St. Paul's Chapel just down the street, frequented by George Washington and the spiritual healing center of Ground Zero since September 11, 2001.

"It's also Epiphany Church in Los Angeles, where Cesar Chavez rallied the United Farm workers. And Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Cumberland, Maryland, whose basement was a major stop on the Underground Railroad to freedom for enslaved African-Americans. "It's a parish in Iowa. A campus ministry in Georgia. A mission in Dinetah - the Navajo Reservation. A cathedral in Utah. Even a house church in Vermont."

Jesus is mentioned twice in the article: the first time is in reference to the church's social ministries, and the second time is with reference to transforming the world, as Jesus taught: "a world of justice, peace, wholeness, and holy living."

There is no reference to the Great Commission or the Great Commandment - it is all talk of structures and sodomy, the latter now considered "holy living".

According to the ad, St. John's Church in Greenwich Village, is "a meeting place for gay and lesbian action following the 1969 Stonewall uprising," but makes no mention of ordinary families or the place of single heterosexuals who might be looking for spiritual solace from the Episcopal Church. The ONLY gender focus is on homosexuals.

The fact that dozens of large parishes and their priests have fled The Episcopal Church because it can no longer affirm Scripture as authoritative for the church's life and witness is not mentioned. Neither does it state that thousands of orthodox Episcopalians have fled TEC in dioceses like Florida and Los Angeles, with four thousand in one parish alone in the Diocese of Dallas, and that one or possibly more whole dioceses will leave the Episcopal Church after Sept. 30 if The Episcopal Church does not fall in line with the rest of the Anglican Communion over sexuality issues.

Their is no mention in the ad of the pain revisionist bishops have inflicted on priests, (dozens of whom have been inhibited and deposed,) who don't agree with them;, the slanderous slights against Global South bishops and archbishops who don't agree that sodomy is good and right in the eyes of God; or of the forced appearance of orthodox Archbishops on American soil to rescue godly parishes marginalized by liberal bishops who hate them for their stand for the truth of the transforming message of the gospel - redemption but no inclusion.

Formation of the Anglican Mission in America (AMiA) or the more recent Convocation of Anglican Churches in North America (CANA) as safe spiritual havens for tens of thousands of former Episcopalians, now Anglicans, who believe their souls are imperiled by staying in The Episcopal Church, is not mentioned.

The expensive ad glosses over such hard raw facts as the Episcopal Church might well face ouster from the Anglican Communion before the end of the year and that the Archbishop of Canterbury may be forced (by pressure from certain African Primates) not to invite liberal and revisionist TEC bishops to Lambeth in 2008 at risk of splitting the Anglican Communion.

Also not mentioned is the fact that it is the liberals and revisionists who have moved away from historic Anglicanism not the orthodox. The latter state that the new religion is emptying churches not filling them. ...

... In any event, the ad is a vast waste of money. The much vaunted hope of doubling church membership by 20/20 is now a distant dream. Every week Episcopalians tumble out of Episcopal churches never more to return. By October of this year that could turn into an avalanche.

The 'Convocation of Anglicans in North America'...

CANA Video... is an Anglican missionary effort in the US sponsored by the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion).

Click here to read about CANA. Click the image to the right for the video.

In the news: Virginia churches break from U.S. Episcopal Church:
Eight congregations in the Virginia Diocese of the Episcopal Church voted overwhelming to break away, the Church announced on Sunday, in the latest sign of a rift in the U.S. denomination over its ordination of a gay bishop.

Two of the larger parishes, The Falls Church and Truro Church in the northern Virginia suburbs of Washington, voted to join the conservative Convocation of Anglicans in North America organization, which is linked to the Episcopal Church of Nigeria.

The Nigerian church is headed by Peter Akinola, who has supported a proposed law in Nigeria that calls for prison terms for homosexual activity.

The breakaway is the latest challenge to Presiding U.S. Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori, the first woman to head the 2.4 million-member U.S. Episcopal Church. She has been under fire from conservative Episcopalians because of her stand in favor of blessing same-sex unions and support for the 2003 consecration of an openly gay bishop in New Hampshire.

In addition to voting to join the breakaway Convocation of Anglicans of North America, The Falls Church and Truro Church congregations voted in favor of keeping parish property worth millions of dollars, the churches said. ...
From my local newspaper...
The Episcopal Church, the U.S. wing of global Anglicanism, has been under pressure from traditionalists at home and abroad since the 2003 consecration of the first openly gay bishop, V. Gene Robinson of New Hampshire.

Theological conservatives are a minority within the 2.2 million-member U.S. denomination, but their protests have had an impact.

Episcopal researchers estimate that at least one-third of the nearly 115,000 people who left the denomination from 2003 to 2005 did so because of parish conflicts over Robinson.

Seven of 100 U.S. Episcopal dioceses have threatened to break from the denomination, but have so far stayed put. The closest any have come to leaving was a vote earlier this month in the Diocese of San Joaquin, in Fresno, Calif., endorsing a first step toward seceding. But the diocese must take a second vote next year before they can formalize a split.

The state of the 77 million-member Anglican Communion is far worse.

Most overseas Anglicans believe gay relationships violate Scripture and contend liberal interpretation of the Bible should not be accepted.

Struggling to hold the communion together, Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams, the Anglican spiritual leader, has said that the communion may have to create a two-tier system of membership, with branches that ordain partnered gays given a lesser status.
I am personally encouraged by this move. FAQ about CANA.

'No one is a liberal's hero the way an adulterer is'... (updated)

Why liberals love adulteryKevin McCollough discusses:
... In the whole spin cycle of garbage about sexual behavior and why we're "made a certain way" we forget that choices are made for every single action taken. With Clinton the issue was "come on every body does it." With Robinson and McGreevey its simply, "I'm being true to myself."

It's the refusal
to make the choice
to not be a slave
to their impulses.

In truth its selfishness coupled with the refusal to curb their sexual appetite. Its the refusal to make the choice to not be a slave to their impulses. Basically they are still little boys who do not know how to discipline themselves - only now they wish the world to feel sorry for them. And in McGreevey's case he's openly seeking to work with kids for his life's mission now. ...
The homosexualization continues...It really is horrifying to feel like you're sitting on the sidelines watching our culture go down the toilet. It's even worse when you're an Episcopal watching your church lead the way.

What would Jesus bomb? I guess we'll see... eventually.

An "irritate a liberal" article roundup...

Survival of the Fakest (pdf)
Science now knows that many of the pillars of Darwinian theory are either false or misleading. Yet biology texts continue to present them as factual evidence of evolution. What does this imply about their scientific standards?

The black rebellion against fatherlessness
BLACK BOSTON, like black America, is in the midst of a moral and cultural crisis. Forty years after the passage of groundbreaking voting and civil rights legislation, blacks face dire conditions that would have been inconceivable to the generation who came of age during that period.

Church vs. State in our Modern Society
The view that the state is to be thoroughly secular, and not influenced by religious values, especially Christian - was completely foreign to the first 150 years of American political thought. Clearly, the Founding Fathers did not try to expunge every vestige of Christian religion, thought, and values from all facets of public life.

Devising moral destruction
How would you destroy the moral fiber of a nation grounded in moral truth? A nation whose founding document says is predicated on the self-evident truths that all men are created equal and endowed by their Creator with unalienable rights?

Intelligent design makes sense, complexity of life not accidental
Evolutionary theory is based on the faith belief that millions of such fortunate mutations have occurred, sequentially. This is statistically impossible. It makes Darwin's theory more of a religious belief than science.

If there are truly scientists who believe Darwin's theory, then perhaps they could prove their faith by volunteering to become genetic mutants.

I am not holding my breath for any to volunteer.

This is a tacit admission that there is an intelligence in the universe far in advance of us. This is just common sense. To ignore the obvious is not good science, and to preclude research or a scientific theory because we don't like the conclusion is worse.

Intelligent design does not require the espousing of any religious belief. It only recognizes the obvious — that the incredible complexity of biological life is not accidental, but instead shows evidence of intelligent design.

All intelligent design proponents ask is that it be examined on a scientific basis, just as we do now with its competitor, Darwin's theory of evolution.

Open letter to ABC News: your ‘BIG LIE’ on same-sex marriage
Your news anchor, Charles Gibson, asserted that the American people are “fairly evenly split” on the issue of same-sex marriage.

Yet he did so in the face of your own organization’s poll showing that Americans are overwhelmingly opposed to “same-sex marriage” by a margin of 58 to 36 percent.

Making Gibson’s false claim even more outrageous was the fact that on the same broadcast ABC reported that “forty-five of fifty states have passed either constitutional amendments or laws banning same-sex marriage.”

Thank God for Moral Violence
Let us make war on the phrase "violence doesn't solve anything." It is a lie, and anyone who utters it cannot be taken morally seriously.

Take, for example, the American use of violence against the Taliban. Thanks to it, Afghani women may get an education, attend public events without a male escort and otherwise ascend above their prior status as captive animals.

‘White Guilt’: America’s race problem In his new book, Shelby Steele, a scholar on race issues, offers a solution. Read an excerpt:
When I woke on that January morning to the sight of President Clinton wagging his finger on the morning news and saying "I never had sex with that woman," I thought two things: that he was lying and that he would be out of office within two weeks. It was a month later that I realized not only that he might survive his entire term but also that his survival, even for a month, already spoke volumes about the moral criterion for holding power in the United States.

Liberals will get us all killed
I don't say it as much anymore and yet there may be nothing more important for our nation to understand than the reality of that statement. Liberals don't have a clear cut sense of right and wrong. They are fuzzy when it comes to moral absolutes, and they sure don't seem to have any clue when it comes to national security.

Don't believe me? Then how 'bout a refresher?

Is America Headed For Decline?
"What one generation allows in moderation," it was once said, "the next accepts in excess." This has certainly been true in America in recent years. Anyone old enough to be raising children has witnessed firsthand the decline of moral standards since the time we were kids. It seems the time-honored notions of courage, honor, sacrifice, responsibility and decency have become a thing of the past.

When Education Fails to Educate
Let's face it. Public education is a mess. Some may even say it is dead. Many subjects being explored and indoctrinated into our children's minds in the public education system these days doesn't even have anything to do with education at all. Just last week the National Education Association (NEA) was debating whether to embrace or endorse same-sex marriage or not. At first the NEA did decide to endorse same-sex marriage, then changed their minds about it and decided not to. Then, at the last moment, they pulled a John Kerry flip flop and changed their minds again. Now the NEA will endorse same-sex marriage. My question is what does same-sex marriage have to do with kids learning math, science, history, and other such subjects?

Crisis of Faith: Episcopal schism reflects wider culture war
The Archbishop of Canterbury last week unveiled plans for a great divorce within the 77-million-strong worldwide Anglican Communion – or at least a formal separation from its American cousin, the Episcopal Church. The split that so many Anglicans have anticipated for so long finally appears to be upon the church – and North Texas Episcopalians are leading the way.

And, like many nasty divorces, this one has to do with sex.

Stem Cell Research: Science or Politics?
It’s important to remember that there is no ban on embryonic stem cells research. Anybody who wants to do it is free to do so, he just can’t do it on the public’s dollar. If it held the promise that proponents claim, top pharmaceutical companies would be vying for chances to throw their research dollars at it. After all, if it worked as promised they could expect to make huge profits. That they don’t see such prospects should tell us something.

The real crisis in American education
The real crisis in American education is that we no longer agree about what a child is. If a child has a soul she requires one kind of education; if she has no soul, it hardly matters what kind of education she receives. If she has a soul, her personal conscience, shaped by transcendent considerations, should guide her in every situation. If she has no soul, the collective will may serve as her compass.

On the Soulful Side: If she has a soul, she has a higher destiny than that of the social order to which she belongs — she out lives it to reach her eternal disposition. When a society understands this it will be structured to help her attain her higher destiny — or at the very least, its institutions will not be allowed to hinder her journey. Hence protections like the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

On the Soulless Side: If she has no soul, society may work upon her to shape her to fit its aims — whatever they may be. Her beliefs, allegiances, sexual energies, religious ties, familial bonds; her very mind, will and emotions are all available to be worked upon by the master planners of her education. Enter the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

There is an alternative to Islam’s example
In her essay A Call For Clear Thinking, Ayaan Hirsi Ali urges her fellow Muslims to reject fundamentalism and to embrace the open society

UN Watch Issues Report Card of UN Human Rights Council Inaugural Session
Geneva, June 30, 2006 — UN Watch issued a Report Card (see below ) grading the performance of the UN Human Rights Council's inaugural 2-week session, which has just concluded. "Despite some encouraging indicators," said Hillel Neuer, executive director of the Geneva-based NGO, "the Council failed to adopt a single statement for the victims of gross atrocities in Darfur and for millions of other victims around the world."

Children need both a mother and a father at home
Fathers roughhouse and encourage competition and independence. Mothers are gentle and encourage equity and security. Fathers tend toward encouraging risk without consideration of consequences. Mothers tend to avoid risk. Joined together, they keep each other in balance and help children remain safe while expanding their experiences and confidence.

Should moral "evolution" of a society require a reinterpretation of God's law...

Does Society Set The Standard For God's LawDoes Society Set The Standard For God's Law?

I missed this post over at All Things Beautiful last week, but it's worth reading if you're interested in the debate over homosexuality and the likely split it will cause within the Anglican Church.
Society does not set standard for God's law. God does not obligate nor encourage us to fulfill all our desires. Those desires that violate his laws must be controlled; and yet, where does that leave the question of homosexuality, which is considered an acceptable practice by many in our world today.

"Will gay debate tear the Church apart?" was the screaming headline on CNN's Larry King Live, featuring the first openly gay Episcopal Bishop in U.S. history, The Rt. Rev. V. Gene Robinson, Bishop of New Hampshire, The Most Rev. Frank T. Griswold, Presiding Bishop and Primate of the Episcopal Church, who appointed him, the clergy that oppose him, and....our own journalist/blogger Andrew Sullivan, who is Catholic and gay.
Alexandra's post - along with many very thoughtful comments - is... here.

Michael Liccione asks "Can one affirm the traditional norm that homosex is wrong without positively rejecting confirmed homosexuals as persons?". As Alexandra puts it... can we "hate the sin and love the sinner"?

For me, that answer has to be yes, absolutely. I don't, however, agree that a man so proud of his outwardly proud of his sin should be elevated to the leadership role of Bishop.

The Episcopal tragedy - The secular progressive movement strengthens...Christianity & morality regroup.

Here are the first and last paragraphs of a column posted yesterday on Virtue Online by F. Earle Fox:
I am an Episcopal priest who has labored in that vineyard for over forty years, now watching the Church I loved and cherished self-destruct. There will be a resurrection of sorts, that is a division with one side conforming, more or less, to orthodoxy.

But there are few signs that the orthodox in the West have learned the lessons which God meant us to learn over the last four centuries (see below). Unless there is new leadership with intellectual, moral, and spiritual credibility raised up, the division will not make much difference to the Christian Church -- which has been in the backwaters of civilization for most of the last two centuries. ...

... The issues are bigger than the Episcopal disaster, which is just a forerunner. America shows all the signs of going the Episcopal way -- down the sink hole of relativism and pseudo-pluralism, ending in totalitarianism. They are the issues of Western Civilization, and becoming the issues of world culture (thanks to the globalists and their tool, the UN).

America shows all the signs
of going the Episcopal way --
down the sink hole of
relativism and pseudo-pluralism

There is no hope for civilization outside the Church of God. Only a people rooted in the Hand of God and obedient to His Voice will be able to turn the momentum of self-destruction back toward rational, sane, and truly compassionate culture and spirituality.

Christians did it before, and, under the law and grace of God, we will do it again.
Read it all... here.

This issue hits close to home, as I am a member of the Episcopal Church. I know that many like me are struggling with the recent decisions of the church leaders. It's very disheartening, to say the least.

Feminist Absolutism Infultrating Religions with Moral Relativism...

Gay love OK with God - bishopHow Feminist Absolutism Drives Moral Relativism, by David Usher:
... Twenty years ago, feminists realized that it was necessary to take over all major religions in order to eliminate pesky moral yardsticks. Only a handful of churches have not yet been devastated or severely compromised.

Only a handful of churches
have not yet been devastated
or severely compromised.

The plan backfired on feminists in the Catholic Church. Their idea: since gays could be ministers, feminists could sue the institution for what gays do inside the Church, and put it out of business. The Vatican is finally standing its ground, removing gays and speaking against feminism after finding out what gay feminist ministers do when given power. If the Episcopalian grassroots cannot find the moral resolve to clean house now, perhaps the lessons of the Catholic Church will change their minds quickly.

Feminists failed broaching the Muslim faith. Indeed, one of the reasons Muslim countries see western cultures as being threatening is due to the fact that all western cultures are radically feminist. We insist on exporting absolutist feminism via every possible channel, and then wonder why Muslims are ready for war against the evil West. Do not mistake me: I am not saying we deserved to be attacked. I am saying that it could easily have been avoided had we said “No” to radical feminism in the 1960’s.

We fear it is a rude insult to the American melting pot when American Muslim women wear a chador. It is not. It is a rejection of feminism. We should take this seriously, and clean our own house of the absolutist feminism that Muslims of both sexes so correctly reject. ...

... Now, it is my turn to drop the “A” bomb on liberal feminists, who “are the absolutists”. They absolutely cannot stand the healthy moral values of marriage, family, and fatherhood. They will say anything to scare or threaten politicians and religions into doing what they demand.

we must stand firmly
against all aspects
of institutional feminism

We have only one option: we must stand firmly against all aspects of institutional feminism, or heterosexual marriage and fatherhood will be replaced in both the secular and ecclesiastical worlds by entitled marriages between Murphy Browns under the insidious connivance of “equal rights for lesbian women”. Any politician, policymaker, or church leader who cannot rise to this necessary duty must necessarily be removed from positions of authority.

The homosexualization continues as emotion, love & tolerance are used against morality, standards & truth...

Albert Mohler's Web SiteAlbert Mohler, President of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, was one of a number of religious experts on Larry King last Thursday to discuss the subject of homosexuality and the church...specifically what's happening in the Episcopal Church and how it's support of homosexuality is affecting Christianity.

His article from a few years ago: Courage and Compassion on Homosexuality
The church's engagement with the culture involves a host of issues, controversies, and decisions--but no issue defines our current cultural crisis as clearly as homosexuality. Some churches and denominations have capitulated to the demands of the homosexual rights movement, and now accept homosexuality as a fully valid lifestyle. Other denominations are tottering on the brink, and without a massive conservative resistance, they are almost certain to abandon biblical truth and bless what the Bible condemns.

Within a few short years, a major dividing line has become evident--with those churches endorsing homosexuality on one side, and those stubbornly resisting the cultural tide on the other.

The homosexual rights movement understands that the evangelical church is one of the last resistance movements committed to a biblical morality. Because of this, the movement has adopted a strategy of isolating Christian opposition, and forcing change by political action and cultural pressure. Can we count on evangelicals to remain steadfastly biblical on this issue?

I wonder. Is Christ still the head of the Episcopal church?

Gay Eucharist attracts 1,000+From VitueOnline: Gay Eucharist attracts 1,000+
COLUMBUS, OHIO (6/16/06)- Over 1,000 homosexual and pro-homosexual clergy, bishops, and laymen of the Episcopal Church celebrated Eucharist Friday evening at Trinity Episcopal Church, just blocks from the site of the 75th Episcopal General Convention.

"This is a small taste of what heaven must be like," said the Rt. Rev. V. Gene Robinson, Bishop of New Hampshire, as he began his sermon to the prolonged cheers of the adoring congregation. Then Robinson was brought to tears as he thanked his homosexual partner Mark, three years after the Episcopal Convention at which Robinson's election as bishop was affirmed.

Sponsored by the homosexual pressure group Integrity, the gay-themed Eucharist stretched on for about two hours and 20 pages in the Eucharist program. The service began with a prelude on the church's massive pipe organ and concluded with a resounding rendition of "Amazing Grace" by the congregation. Around 600 communicants took places in the pews, while hundreds more sat in folding chairs, packed into the balconies, and flowed into the basement, the foyer, and out the doors.
