We have a visa program that is already broken...about 1/3 to 1/2 of the 12,000,000 illegal aliens in the U.S. now had legal visas, but simply never left after they expired.
Now we're talking about creating a new program - on top of the old failing program - that forgives the breaking of rules from the old program and creates new rules for those same law-breakers who didn't follow the old rules, hoping that they will...what, have a change of heart and go through the hassle of filling out forms, paying fines and taxes? That's reform? Wrong. That's wishful thinking.
The answer, for now, needs to be a complete focus on controlling the border and enforcing the rules/laws that we already have. If there is to be a discussion about how to better handle existing illegals, let's have it after we've done both of those things.
